Poetic Inspiration

Poetry that Inspires, Uplifts and Encourages

I will start with one of my poems and invite you to post your inspirational poetry here also. Please feel free to make any comments you would like to make about this poem also.

Promise of a Rainbow

Everyone makes mistakes at some point along the way,
Some are in what you do and others in what you say.
The consequences they bring can leave you in dark despair,
As if you were living in shadows, black clouds hovering in the air.

You may feel like you are doomed by the misdeeds of your past,
Knowing they can’t be undone, fearful that they will last.
When you feel quite devastated, unsure what you should do,
Offer it up to God, let His love come shining through.

God’s light can break through the clouds with the promise of a rainbow,
Splashing color into your life, chasing away every shadow.
God offers a second chance to repent and turn from your sorrow,
To learn from your past mistakes, with God’s grace to face tomorrow.

Connie, I really like this one. I can definitely relate to, "You may feel like you are doomed by the misdeeds of your past, Knowing they can’t be undone, fearful that they will last." And your conclusion, "God offers a second chance to repent and turn from your sorrow,To learn from your past mistakes, with God’s grace to face tomorrow." is perfect. Thank you for the reminder of this great truth. ~Padre Bob

Connie I really am not sure if I am posting this in the right place, but here is another one of my poems. Thanks for your prayers and your concern. Mary E. Preece

Son of Mercy and Love

Away in a manger so long, long, ago,
Came the way of Salvation the whole world would know.
Born into nothing yet a Royal Priesthood HE led,
Killed by His enemies but rose from the dead.

Son of the Immortal and Only Wise God,
Traveled these lands, lonely pilgrims have trod.
He was the prime example for the whole world to see.
Yet He was tempted and tried as any earthly man will be.

He was part mortal and part spiritual, He was God's only son.
Lived a sinless life, spotless and without blemish, not even one.
He was mocked and accused and led like a lamb to His slaughter.
This man born to Virgin Mary and with God as His Father.

He could have called ten thousand angels to come to His defense.
To strike down His accusers that scourged Him with their false offense.
But He bore the burden of the cross of sins for you and for me,
Because He loved us so much He made a way for our souls to be free.

Upon His ascent back to His Throne,
He sent us a Comforter so we'd never feel alone.
The Holy Spirit within us is always so dear,
To the heart that is lamenting, with mercy so near.

The man on the inside born of Jesus's love will surely live again.
But the Man on the outside is vile and full of corruption and sin.
And although the mortal man's face shows the reflection of Jesus
When the spirit moves Him from inside, the clay on the outside he never can hide.

Born on the inside incorruptible and new,
Yet imperfection in this outside until the day of release,
When these bodies of clay no longer hold the real me or you
And we'll enter into a new body that will never cease.

Thank-God for His Son, our advocate to go to
When we have transgressed in wrongs that we do,
But as in the day of His Crucifixion many have neglected
To show mercy to others as He showed to me and to you.

Still ready to stand today in judgment and hang from the highest tree
Their friend and their brother for the whole world to see.
Sacrificing and convicting, standing gazing and killing those whom
You have set free, not learning the real meaning of Dark Calvary.

Thank you for sharing this, Mary, it is so touching and obviously comes from your heart. You are a beautiful person who has used the experiences you've suffered to refine your faith and shine forth even more clearly to others. God bless you!

Journey of Life

We should never estimate our worth by,

comparing yourself with others.

Everyone is different which makes us all special.

We should always set our goals to what is important,

in our lives not deemed by others.

Only each person knows what is best for them.

Never take for granted what is closest to your heart.

Hold on to them as you would your life,

without them, life is meaningless.

Do not let your life slip through your fingers.

By living in the past and not for the future.

Live your life one day at a time,

you never can tell what each day will bring you..

Never give up when you still have something to give.

Nothing is completely over until you stop trying.

Never be afraid to encounter risks in life,

go ahead and persue anything that comes in your life.

Taking chances we learn to be brave.

Never shut out of your life by saying it is

impossible to find.

The best way to receive love is to give love;

The fastest way to lose love is to hold it too tightly.

The best way to keep love is to give it wings.

Do not give up on your dreams.

Without dreams you will be without hope;

Without hope you will be without purpose.

Never run through life so fast that you forget

where you have been, also where you are going.

Life is not a race, yet a journey to be savored

each and every step of the way.
