Poetic Inspiration

Poetry that Inspires, Uplifts and Encourages

I will start with one of my poems and invite you to post your inspirational poetry here also. Please feel free to make any comments you would like to make about this poem also.

Promise of a Rainbow

Everyone makes mistakes at some point along the way,
Some are in what you do and others in what you say.
The consequences they bring can leave you in dark despair,
As if you were living in shadows, black clouds hovering in the air.

You may feel like you are doomed by the misdeeds of your past,
Knowing they can’t be undone, fearful that they will last.
When you feel quite devastated, unsure what you should do,
Offer it up to God, let His love come shining through.

God’s light can break through the clouds with the promise of a rainbow,
Splashing color into your life, chasing away every shadow.
God offers a second chance to repent and turn from your sorrow,
To learn from your past mistakes, with God’s grace to face tomorrow.

I like your piece and feel that you put a lot of thought behind what you wrote.

There are times I have done what I shouldn't have and there are things that I've said that wasn't the best at the moment. Thank God for his grace and the love he's shown me along the way. I believe you said all of this in your piece.

(This is a piece that I wrote for a parent or parents that are raising a baby or have done so in the past.)

The Empty Nest

The hands which take mine
and make it fine.
There you are to teach me
as I learn to see.
The source of all my needs
as you do lead.
Teaching right from wrong
as I follow along.
If I take a step its a feat
that's very neat.

Since I am just a little baby,
who says maybe,
some day I'll tie my shoes
just as you do.
There's so much to learn
for you I yearn.
If you find time to believe,
I might achieve.
Soon there will come a day
I'll fly away.

This sure makes me think about how it seems just a short time ago my children were so little and now they are grown and my grandchildren are the little ones. Before we know it those babies will be grown and having their own. That is a sweet poem that touches my heart. It's great for parents and grandparents. Thank you for sharing!

I was helping to care for a little tot (he was a little over a year old at the time). I wrote this for his wife (my nephew's) and put it on a plague with the babe's picture on it and gave it to her for a present to her. My nephew and her are no longer together but I still remember the little babe and miss him very much.

Do you have any suggestions on how to improve it.

God Bless,

(This is one of my older pieces. Just imagine if you were in Noah's shoes...! It seems like people just ignore or put off accepting Christ until the last moment. Sometimes I think we need to be reminded of his coming drawing nigh thats where I was going with this.)

The Midnight Hour

Noah finished the ark.
He was preparing to embark.
The animals unaware of the deluge
to come sensing their need for refuge,
saw the clouds gathering in the sky
as the forces of nature began to testify.

Such laughter to see Noah and his crew,
completing the ark with just a simple few.
The animals came in two by two, at their pace
waiting to be shown to their designated space.
What an eyesight it must have been there,
the timid deer alongside the frightful bears.
The mischievous gorillas and chimpanzees,
walking in step with the lions and the monkeys.

The people making fun came up with this reply.
"This warning couldn't be true, why do you lie
telling us about such a thing, as rain."
There never had been such a thing, it was inane!

Their taunts filled the air till lightning lit up the sky,
while the thunder gave way to an explosive battle cry.
A flood set the ark afloat for forty days and nights.
The fountains of the deep were broken up, what a sight.

Screams were heard throughout the earth in the midnight hour,
"Let us in", they cried, the ark's door was shut by God's mighty power.
The Bible says that as in the days of Noan so shall it be at the end of time.
They were eating, drinking, marrying, and the rain came, ofttimes,
God gave warning, but their eyes did not see nor their ears hear.
What will you do with His coming drawing near?

That is a wonderful depiction of Noah's ark, and really meaningful when you relate it to the end time. Very descriptive and thought provoking!

(Here is another one I just wrote today. It is my night off. I hope you like it)

A Vision of Hope

Where does our hope lie?
Is it in the autumn leaves as they fall and scatter?
Does it fly with the Robins in the sky?
Some say it's in the dark stormy clouds as the rain splatters.

Where does it come from?
It's a gift from God, the One, who created the blue-sky.
The Bible is a map or guide, a balm.
It tells of God's amazing grace and love where sin does die.

Why do we need it?
It steps in when things go wrong if to him we do cry!
The depth of its passion keeps from the pit.
If we on Him learn to rely, He is there to supply.

It's not in disguise.
We must take hold of it if we expect to survive!
Sometimes it happens to be a surprise.
Jesus our Rock, is the source, he makes the moonrise.

The sacrifice for all,
Is Jesus, the master of everything both good and wise?
Can you hear the voice of the Savior call?
Who opens the eyes of hope so all may see the sunrise?

Connie this is a nice site and I love the poetry.

Here is one of mine:

Poets
Some write of love, the pure, the undefiled
The kind that dwells within our hearts
And the charity of love that come's from God's own child
Will make us meek, humble compassionate and mild.

Sometimes they write of cheer covering the pain
For unlike some they have had much more than they should rightfully attain
And frivolity, fun, laughter and cheer
Has provided them comfort for many a year

Some write of forgiveness, yet can't seem to forget
For heartbreaking pain, is like an old debt that is
Aging without interest and no acknowlegement met
To the hurting, the lost, or the spiritual sublime,
but lost in the moment of uncensored rhyme.
