Poetic Inspiration

Poetry that Inspires, Uplifts and Encourages

Life is short so there isn't much time
to give joy to those who are sad,
To lift the spirit of one who's down,
discouraged and feeling bad.

Life is short so there isn't much time
to show kindness to those in need,
To offer our aid, spend time with the lonely,
the hungry to help to feed.

Life is short so there isn't much time
to give love to those all around,
To live as Christ lived, giving and serving,
helping the lost to be found.

Life is short but there is enough time
to make the most of each day,
To follow God's will with thanksgiving and praise
in all that we do and say.

Great Connie and I wish I had one ready to go along with yours but here is one I wrote about getting older and facing reality.

Reality
Life used to be so simple even in my day it seemed.
Raising children and keeping a home was my life-long dream.
A loving husband and father who guarded us with his life
Made me proud to be addressed as his spouse or his wife.

What happens to a marriage when reality sets in and the dream
you once were living starts coming apart at the seams?
Fantasy is fleeting and age takes it's toll as you stumble, rock and
falter and the numbers start to roll.

Then down a slippery slope of self denial that you are not the same
as the day you pitched a no hitter in that infamous baseball game
In your mind if not 18 at least you're not over thirty-five
But your children have surpassed that age so be happy you're still alive.

And take back that fantasy marriage and put it back on the top.
Relive those days of love and laughter and don't let allow the love to stop.
Put back together the broken pieces with painstaking care from your heart.
And God will keep you together to never ever part.

Here is another Poem that I wrote that is in my First Poetry Book Voice of my Soul

If Tomorrow Never Comes

If Tomorrow never Comes
will people remember what
all you did to contribute to
those in need
If Tomorrow never Comes
will people remember the
good things or only the bad
things you did in your life
If Tomorrow never Comes
I want people to remember
everything about me which
I want to be sure I did what
I can to make a difference
in society for the good.
If Tomorrow never Comes
wouldn't you want people
to be able to look up to who
you were and not look down
on you.
If Tomorrow never Comes
be sure that your life wasn't
worthless. Be sure that it
counted for something good.

What great reminder of how we should live since we certainly live from day to day and don't know if we will get another chance tomorrow!
